How to Get a Library Card

Library cards may be picked up, at no cost* if you meet one of the four criteria:

  • Massachusetts resident
  • Work in Massachusetts
  • Attend school in Massachusetts
  • Own property in Massachusetts

To receive your free library card you must provide identification such as a driver's license with your current Massachusetts address.

Out of state residents must provide identification showing their home/permanent address. Property owners must provide verification such as tax bill, utility bill, etc for their Massachusetts property. Students must verify their status with school identification and provide their school address. Out-of-state residents working in Massachusetts must provide their work address. This card must be renewed yearly.

Out of state residents who do not meet the above requirements may purchase a one year library card for $50. This card is considered a family card. Out of state residents must provide photo identification and a utility bill showing their home/permanent address.

Children must be 5 years old.

Print out a library card registration form to bring in with you!

No material may be checked out without a card.

*If a Library Card is lost, a replacement card may be obtained for $2.
