Library Director’s Report
Ann P. advised the group that Chet J. will be retiring at the end of December. A buffet lunch/party will be held in his honor on 12/23/03 from 12:00-1:30 p.m. The library staff will be bringing food, and if the Friends would like to join and bring food, that would be fine.
Ann indicated that the new Library web site is up and running, and is great. It still needs a bit of tweaking. The host costs about $30/month, which Ann is paying for with money received from the Friends’ annual donation.
There will be a chamber concert on Saturday 1/3/04, time to be determined.
According to Ann, the Friends’ Officers are now listed in the computer as library staff, which means overdue books will be fine free, for Lawrence Library books only.
Friday Story Time is being revamped for the home school audience. Cheryl M. will run this program.
Cheryl M. reviewed the upcoming program schedule.
Kim read Kathy L.ís report, which indicated that the membership is up to 139 as of 12/10/30. Last yearís ending membership was 183.
Per Kathy L.’s report, the next reception, for a Chinese watercolor artist, will be held on Saturday, 1/10/04 from 1-3 p.m. Lisa Marie P. will host this reception. Lisa Marie also agreed to host the Quilt Guild reception to be held on Saturday 2/28/04.
Kathy indicated that the new site is great, and that we are looking into getting Pay Pal set up in order to provide an easy way for new Friends to pay for membership.
Kris thanked Betsy Ke. for running the Ornament Making program. Kris also thanked Luci B. and everyone involved with making the recent Christmas Tree Lighting a great success.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:22 a.m.
