The Friends of the Lawrence Library was formed in 1965 as a non-profit organization whose purpose is to foster closer relations between the Library and the community; to promote awareness of the Library’s services and programs; and to raise funds for Library purchases.
The Friends hold open monthly meetings the second Thursday of every month from September through June** at 10:15am in the Library’s Meeting Room. Free on-site childcare and refreshments are provided. Members need not be present at meetings. Also, attendance at the monthly meeting is not required to chair an event, to volunteer to be on a committee, or in any way assume a responsible role for the organization. Please note: the Friends Meeting Minutes are available in the Reading Room of the Library.
The Friends’ funding comes primarily from membership, donations and fundraising.
The largest fund raising events are the Annual Used Toy Sale and the Annual Used Book Sale. Both events are held during the spring for more information go to the Fundraiser page.
The Friends offer ample opportunity for community involvement. Chairing an activity, working on the book sale, pricing toys for the Toy Yard Sale, or simply offering experience and ideas, are all wonderful ways to become involved.
